Jewelry Care
Understanding how to care for and protect your treasured jewelry can make a world of difference in maintaining its beauty and keeping your heirlooms sparkling for generations to come.

How to properly care for your jewelry
Remove rings when cleaning the house, washing your hands, applying lotions or beauty products to prevent buildup.
Don’t wear your jewelry while swimming. Chlorine and salt water can damage or discolor precious gemstones and metals.
Take off your jewelry before you perform any sports.
Store your jewelry in zip or drawstring bags. This is the best way to protect your jewelry from scratches.
Have your jewelry inspected regularly (every 6 months) to ensure the stones are in good shape and the settings are secure.
How to clean your jewelry
Mix a few drops of liquid dish detergent in a bowl of lukewarm (not hot) water. Allow your jewelry to soak in the water for about 15-30 minutes which will help loosen up the hard-to-reach buildups of dirt. Gently scrub your jewelry with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Rinse each piece in warm water and lay out on a towel to air dry completely before wearing it again.

How to clean your pearls

Residue from makeup, perfume and hairspray can make your pearls look dull. Pearls should always be the last thing you put on and the first you take off.
Ultrasonic cleanser should never be used with pearl jewelry as it can damage the pearls. Gently wipe down the pearls with a clean cloth dampened with warm soapy water. Place the pearls on a soft towel and let them air-dry thoroughly before returning to your jewelry box. If you wear them often, your pearls should be restrung once a year.
